Eight events coming up in the next month

Fall is traditionally full of community events, and this year is no exception, with eight in the next 30 days:

Sept. 29: Blues and Brews Festival put on by the Kiwanis Club and Plaza Foods at Lake Clementia Amphitheater from 5 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 or $30 at the door.

Oct. 5: Passionately Pink for the Cure Event. Wear pink and donate at participating local businesses to support the fight against breast cancer. (A tea on Oct. 20 has been postponed until spring.)

Oct. 7: Rancho Murieta Country Club Open House, 2 to 5 p.m. Contact Cheryl, 354-3400.

RMA appears headed for modest dues increase

The Rancho Murieta Association Finance Committee met in special session Thursday for an overview of the 2008 budget before it goes to a public budget workshop scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 10 at the RMA Building.

Reports of brown water after North service interruption

The Community Services District received reports of discolored water from households on Puerto, Camino Del Lago, Camino Del Sol, Rio Oso and Orilla Way in Murieta North when water service resumed Thursday afternoon after a three-hour scheduled shutdown.

Honoring Murieta's cultures

Fashion show

The Rancho Murieta Women's Club fashion show Wednesday celebrated the community's diversity of cultures. Fifteen members of the club modeled clothing representative of different cultures for the grand finale after modeling casual and dressy fashions from a half dozen area shops. Georgella Burnett-Ellis, above, who traces her lineage to the Miwoks, the early inhabitants of Rancho Murieta, chose a sari to honor the culture of India. More than 200 members and their guests attended the luncheon event at the Country Club, where the tables were decorated with centerpieces like the one below.
