Are you real or recorded?

You know those pain-in-the-neck charity solicitation calls from the nice-sounding person who kinda doesn't sound real? You're too polite to just hang up, so you ask if the person is real or a recording, and the answer, sounding recorded, goes something like, "No, I'm a real person. I'm just using my computer."

Ask the nice-sounding person to add two plus two. I haven't found one yet who can do that.

RE: Are you real or recorded?

We got so many calls I finally had to install a call-blocker gizmo which only allows immediate friends and family to get through to our home phone. Works very well. When I was still getting requests for donations, to such-and-such a cause, my standard reply was to please just me the info via mail, as I NEVER give money over the phone. Just too many scammers running amok these days.

Re: Are you real or recorded ?

Jeff, you are so correct....and smart to install that system....I have filed soooo many reports about folks that have gotten scammed over the phone....everything from the grandparents scam to the computer scam and many new ones that have popped up lately....I get the calls at my home also, but I just don't answer them. I check the caller ID and if it's a number I don't recognize, I don't answer !!!! We have to be smart these days and be careful who we are talking to.  Thanks for the reminder......If you ever have a question about a phone call or possible scam, you can call my office anytime. Darn Typo!

I don't see a way to edit a previous post typo...but just for the record, I do actually know the difference between to and too.
