A huge Rancho Murieta Equestrian event coming soon!!!

Be prepared for a huge Equestrian event coming soon. It will be a mess on Jackson Rd. so please be prepared. It will be between May 9th-May 12th!!

Rancho Murieta Equestrian Event

This event is normaly at Cal Expo, I don't know why the equestrain would not let us know in advance about such an impact this is goining to cause on our community in Rancho Murieta? We all want to support local activites, but this event projected to bring ten thousand plus people into to our enviroment. They even made  a specail path way from the cathloic chruch to get too this venue, good for them. But they failed to to tell us about what an inpacted this will do to our community during this event and what roads will be off limints, like lone Pine Drive. I hope Management from the Equestrian Center can responed to what is going to take place pior to this happening! Will the shoping center at the plazza be effected? And what parking spaces are going to be taken up and who's going to hande the trafiic on Jackson highway?  I did talk to a few people coming out of plazza today and they did not even have a clue about as to is going to take place from May the 9th to May the 12th,the last day falls on Mothersday.

Rancho Murieta Equestrian Event water supply?

With Ten thousand plus people attending this event. Will this effect our water supply locally?

Rancho Murieta Equestrian Event Food Supply?

Lastly , will this event effect our food supply at our  local makert? Namely " Murieta Markect Raley's? I'm sure Raley'S Is preparing for this event and hope that all items that I shop for will be availble during this time.Crosing my fingers...

Whats really going on? Traffic accidensts late hours

I have personaly never seen traffic accidents occur so late on  Bradshaw Rd and Jackson Road this happened about 1:30 am and before that, another took place at Grantline rd and sloughhouse rd around 11:52 pm coming into Rancho Murieta

Escuela gate equestrain event?

I'm hoping that traffic on Jackson will not get back up? So, maybe people could take latrobe road and then take stonehouse rd and enter Rancho Murieta through the Escuela gate? I did hear that lone pine drive is going to be block off?

HUGE EQUINE SHOW TRAFFIC

The horse show needs to post people at the exit/entry to the horse show and the person needs to send the horse trailers to the right as they come out of the horse show on Lone Pine Drive......this will take them around back of the shopping center and around to the light on Rancho Murieta Drive and Jackson Highway, at the STOP LIGHT (A sign does point that way but they seldom read it). Horse trailers are slower so they do need to pull over when they have a line of traffic behind them....if they have a spot to pull over. Horse trailers take more time to start moving and to stop (please remember that (there are live animals inside that trailer).  THE TRAILER CAN NOT STOP ON A DIME....VERY SIMILAR TO AN 18 WHEELER. If everyone uses courtesy, it can work out for all. They should enter the horse show this way also....the light helps with the congestion and the slow turn of the horse trailers.

Equestrian Center Event

Glad I'm a CC member.  I can prepare before hand and stay behind the gates enjoying our emenities and club food and beverage services.

I would love to stay in the gates but planning for my mom’s funeral requires me to be out Friday and Saturday.  Hope their unannounced “horsing” around doesn’t cause excessive delays.  Aren’t they the same folks asking CSD to give them back money deposited against future liabilities?  Wow!

Horse Expo Site Parking Plan 5/8 to 5/12

This plan is from the Sac Counting planning documents website.  Vehicle parking will be accessed by traveling on Murieta Drive to Cantova Way.  Plan shows Lone Pine Drive closed.

Supervisor Sue Frost's office response to RM traffic concerns

I received the following reply from Tina Barclay, Secretary | County Supervisor Sue Frost:

"Supervisor Frost is currently in Washington DC and is flying back as we speak, but she did forward me your email.  We received a couple of other email concerns as well and this is the information I have found out.

The Murieta Equine Complex is licensed for equestrian events through their business license, so they are able to hold this type of event.  They have also obtained the proper permits for parking for the event as well.  They have contracted with Caltrans to set up signage and cones, starting 5/9/19 thru 5/12/19 to help with traffic.  They also have contracted with the CHP for Saturday 5/11/19 for traffic control for the entire day while the event is running.  They possibly will be contracting with the CHP for Friday traffic control as well, but that is currently being discussed and will not be decided on until later today.

I hope this answers your questions and concerns regarding this event.  I know that you wanted Supervisor Frost to post onto the Rancho Murieta website, but since she is travelling and will not be back until late tonight, she won’t be able to.  Maybe you could pass along this information.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office."

Horse expo

Damon,
I believe you owe the entire Rancho Murieta community an apology for:
1.) getting residents riled unnecessarily up by suggesting that the market would run out of food, we’d have no water, and there would be traffic accidents galore on Jackson Highway
2.) going on local tv and acting as the de facto spokesman and publicly airing concerns traffic that during this event would be a nightmare.
Aside from a little more traffic than usual on Murieta Parkway, this event has essentially gone off without a hitch. And in the process bringing plenty of exposure and $$$$ to the community. 
You don’t speak for me, and many others in the community, and frankly, your NIMBY attitude is not helpful, especially for an event of this size and magnitude.
In the future, I'd suggest that you please keep your shortsighted opinions to yourself.

The sky is falling!!

Thank you, Coco!  The greatest distraction, to me, has been the cones and signs at Lone Pine.  Even Emily Maher from Ch 3 reported last night that the fears of the community (really only about six people that like to see their name in print, I think) have been mostly for naught.  So, to all you Henny Penny's, mind your business and quit trying to stir up trouble where none exists.

I NEVER SAW THE TV COVERAGE BUT.....

I only heard about the TV coverage after the fact and only just now reading here that Damon was the spokesperson!!!! I also am astonished and apalled at that.SHAME on the media for not finding a 'responsible' person with some community 'authority' to comment on the situation.  I TOTALLY agree with Coco....Damon, you have NO right to speak for me or the majority of the community.

I must speak up and speak out about the mean comments by the 3 women who made mean, inaccurate comments about Damon! I totally  agreed with what he said to KCRA!! The event coordinator should have notified our community to at the minimum let us know about the route that may be impacted by the event. There was some traffic issues because my husband and I encountered them.. it's very easy now that the event is almost over to be an armchair quarter back.. I'm glad this event had minimal effects on our community.. but all we wanted was a heads up, what's wrong with expecting that from the Equestrian Center?

Horse Expo

1)  Glad the event was successful and had minimal impact on Murieta residents.

2)  Many of RM residents have endured the nightmare of the Spartan run a couple of years ago (people spent 2-3 hours trying to get home.  Thankfully, Mr. Van Vleck ensured it wouldn't happen again.  There have been other occasions where traffic was significantly impacted by poor planning.

3) there are many activities in this area that require ingress/egress and relatively normal traffic on Jackson Highway:  Weddings, funerals, sports activities, medical needs (dialysis), medical/fire emergencies among them.

4)  Any large event planned in the general area should include advance planning and notice to the surrounding community and include plans to mitigate issues.

5)  RMA, CHP and Sheriff had NOT been notified about this event prior to 5/6.  Concerned citizens spoke out to try to ensure potential issues were appropriately mitigated.

6)  I don't believe anyone needs to apologize for trying to make sure issues were addressed.  Certainly they don't deserve mean comments in a public forum.  None of this would have been an issue if MEC had notified the community.

Perhaps we could all be better neighbors to one another in the future and keep one another in mind as we make our plans.  What's the saying "since we're neighbors - let's be friends?"
