CSD approves review of capital, water fees

At its meeting Wednesday, the Community Services District board authorized spending $56,700 to update the district’s capital improvement and water augmentation fees and rejected a developer’s claim for reimbursement.  Directors acknowledged the change in the board that will occur next month when two directors depart and newly elected directors take their seats. Read more »

Greens Park in South gets committee OK

Development of the Greens Park on the South will move forward despite higher-than-expected costs. The Parks Committee gave the go-ahead at its meeting this month to rebid the project after Rancho Murieta Association representatives outlined a plan to reduce costs and provide additional funding. The committee also discussed the trails system, parks funding, and lighting playing courts at Riverview Park. Read more »

[Updated 2:05 a.m.] Two challengers, Les Clark and John Merchant, won the race for Rancho Murieta's Community Services District board in Tuesday's election, besting two incumbents. Sacramento County election returns reported this final vote tally early Wednesday:

  • John Merchant: 1,085
  • Les Clark: 1,013
  • Mike Martel: 794
  • Betty Ferraro: 616

CSD will assess state of mile-long sewer pipe

The Community Services District board of directors held a brief monthly meeting Wednesday, completing items on a light agenda in just under an hour. The directors spent half of the session discussing a proposal to assess the condition of a mile-long, 12-inch sewer pipe that runs along Stonehouse Road and under Jackson Road. The board approved the expenditure of up to $23,208 in water supply augmentation funds for the assessment by Kennedy/Jenks Consultants. Read more »

The Community Services District invited the candidates for CSD board seats to meet the community at the CSD Building Thursday night. Questions were fielded by, from left, Les Clark, Betty Ferraro, Mike Martel and John Merchant. They're running for two board seats in the November election. Ferraro and Martel are incumbents; Merchant has served on the board previously. About 18 people attended the session, which can be heard in the 98-minute audio recording below. CSD OK's plan to spend security impact fees
