Rain means good things for our reservoirs

Our promising start to the rainy season has meant good things for the community’s reservoirs, with more than 40 million gallons added already, the Community Services District says.

Paul Siebensohn, the CSD’s director of field operations, said the Cosumnes River’s flows allowed the CSD to begin diverting river water into our reservoirs on Dec. 12. As of Dec. 23, the reservoir combined capacity was at 82.5 percent.

This is far ahead of where we were in 2013 (62.5 percent) but about where we were last year (81.9 percent), when we had a rainy start to the winter. Read more » about Rain means good things for our reservoirs

CSD leaves door open to camera expansion

The Community Services District board continued its long-running conversation about security cameras at its Nov. 18 meeting. After more than an hour of conversation, the board voted to continue with the dozen cameras it approved last spring, but it left the door open to future changes.

Trying to get a foundation for the camera plan, General Manager Darlene Gillum had asked the directors last month to answer a questionnaire with a handful of questions.

The key question was whether the camera system should be expanded beyond the dozen cameras approved by the board last May. These cameras would be placed at entrance/exit and park locations around Murieta North and South and the Village. Read more » about CSD leaves door open to camera expansion
