The Bandits strung together two wins to close out the 2009 campaign, and secured the team's first winning season. The 7-5 record was good enough for 3rd place, and only 2 games behind the champion Sierra Highlanders. Thank you to the many cranks (old and new), who make it a fun time at the park at home and on the road.
This past Sunday was also a great time for the annual "Crankfest" and All-Star game at Stonehouse Park. Thank you to everone who made it one of the most successful events in our brief history. Although it was hot, and a full 9-inning game was played, many cranks stuck around and supported the team and league all day. HUZZAH!
As a result of your generosity, GCVBB raised approximately $150 for our youth scholarship fund! This money (along with other funds raised throughout the year) will be donated to a deserving school athletic program.
A big thank you to the CRLL, Youth Soccer, and Co-ed softball Leadership for being so helpful in coordinating schedules and facilities all year. The players and cranks greatly appreciate our fields. And of course, RMA and the Maintenance Department has always been instrumental with ensuring that all of our fields are in great condition (and shade is placed as needed for those long weekends).
Again, thanks from all of the Bandits for all of your support. We look forward to another exciting season next year!
Blake "Calaboose" Carmichael
PS - The league is looking to expand to 6 teams next year. If anyone is interested in checking out the game, please contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org). The Bandits will hold open practices at the start of next year where people can check out the gear and familiarize themselves with the game.
