A Christmastime ride on the Cosumnes

A group of rafters on a professionally guided tour were working the Cosumnes south fork at Granlees Dam at sunset Thursday, as seen in photos by neighbor Alicia Correia. She says there were two rafts, two kayaks and about 10 people. Alicia adds, "The people had no idea they were in Rancho Murieta. I told them if my pics came out well I'd ask you to put up a good one on RM.com." (Thanks, Alicia!) The Rancho Murieta Association board Tuesday night unanimously approved spending about $390,000 to build the long-discussed Greens Park in the South. The board also honored homes with the best holiday lights. Read more »

Old cable/internet system is being shut down

Greenfield Communications, the company operating the community's cable TV and fiber services, will shut down the legacy cable/internet service in much of the North in January, with the rest of the North to follow. This shutdown of the old Rancho Murieta Association cable/internet service was planned in Greenfield's lease of the system from the RMA. If you're on the old system and you want cable or internet service, you must contact Greenfield. Read more »

Five-year-old Kai Gran was more cautious than most, deciding to check out Santa and Mrs. Claus before stepping up and confiding his Christmas wish list at Sunday's Santa Brunch at the Country Club. The North Pole visitors chatted with children, parents took photos, and everyone enjoyed a holiday brunch. With his bike decorated and lighted, Lawry Yerby was a worthy participant in Saturday's Murieta Village Christmas cart parade. More than a dozen decorated carts took part, broadcasting holiday music and looping their way up and down Village streets at sundown, led by Santa and parade organizers Zoe Lasater and Espe Walker, who handed out candy canes.
