The Rancho Murieta Bandits (3-0) struck gold in the early going against the Mother Lode Miners (2-2). With five runs in the top of the first frame, the Bandits continued their strong start to the season, and never looked back, with a final tally of 15-2.

Starting hurler, Matt “Splint” Corsaut, was in fine form, allowing only 2 runs across four innings, while Scott “Leather” Oltmanns and Greg “Bacon” Jorgensen shut the door, only allowing one base runner in the late innings. Fine leather play in the field was another key to victory, as hot corner tender, Colby “Cheddar” Craig, made charging barehanded plays, and Mark “Manley” Walthers and Brad “Bull” Brozaitis nailing things down at first.

Even with such standout performances on the defensive side, the story of the day was the return of the Bandit bats (19 total hits). Blake “Calaboose” Carmichael (4x4; 3R, 2RBI, 1SB) and “Manley” Walters (3x4; 4RBI, 1R) led the way with their fine woodwork. But it was Terry “T-Bone” Conway (3x4; 2RBI, 3R) that electrified the crowd with the first Bandit home run of the year that capped off the scoring on the day.

The Bandits return to the friendly confines of Stonehouse Park II on Sunday May 22nd at 12:30PM. The much improved Ione Preston Nine (0-3) are looking to even the score with the Bandits after their narrow loss that opened the season. The AM tilt features the surging Sierra Highlanders (3-0) and the Miners (2-1) in a game that may help shape the postseason picture.  Hope to catch you at the yard soon!

Who Kept Score???

Of course it was a great day at the ballpark, but who score for this game?  Did Blake "Calaboose" Carmichael really go 4x4 or was there some sketchy score keeping???

Great game everyone!
