The River Valley Garden Club begins 2012 with "Don't Get Caught with Your Plants Down!"  Lori Ann Asmus, owner of the Emerald City Interior Landscape Services (emeraldcityplants.com) for 33 years and Master Gardener since 1986, will provide information on how to be successful with your indoor plants from purchase to "way too big."

Lori Ann earned a BS degree in Environmental Planning and Management from UC Davis in 1983, is a frequent guest of Fred Hoffman (Farmer Fred) on KSTE and KFBK, a guest lecturer at local colleges and universities, and has received several state and local awards for her designs.

Included in the presentation will be tips on using proper tools, the best fertilizer, informative handouts, and a "Troubleshooting" segment.  You are invited to bring a sample from "problem" houseplants in a plastic bag for the "Troubleshooting" segment. Lori Ann will also bring houseplants at her cost for sale.

The RVGC meets on January 24th at the Rancho Murieta Association building. Membership, refreshments and social time begins at 6:30 p.m.  Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

Also at the January meeting we are going to be presenting the awards for our "Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl" poster contest.

In addition to monthly speakers, RVGC members enjoy workshops and outings, discounts at local nurseries and businesses, and many opportunities to give back to our community. For membership information, contact Lois Neumayer, 354-1729, loisneumayer@sbcglobal.net or Candy Hearn, 354-1486, imshuga@sbcglobal.net. You can attend one of our meetings as a guest before becoming a member. Hope to see you there.
