We are one month away from a really fun party called "Run for the Roses" which is a catered party to celebrate and watch the Kentucky Derby. It takes place Saturday May 7th from 1-4pm at Plates Cafe and Catering located in the old Sacramento Army Depot (on Fruitridge Rd between Power Inn & South Watt) at 14 Business Park Way, Bldg 149 Sacramento, Ca 95828 (916-381-2233).
It's $25 per person and includes a scrumptious lunch beginning at 1:00pm, no host bar, silent raffle prizes, mint juleps, live music by KMD, fancy hat contest, race horse raffles and live broadcast of the race.
This strategic alliance between the Rancho Cordova Sunrise and Noon Clubs and the Rancho Murieta Club benefits Rotary projects and the Plates Cafe which is is a project of the St John's Women's Shelter. Plates is an employment learning program for formerly homeless mothers with children. Plates teaches skills and provides experience necessary to enter the culinary and service industries. Plates helps place its graduates into careers in these Industries. Some of its sponsors are Mulvaney's B&L, Kenyon Yeates LLP and Porter Scott.
