Hello Everyone,

As many of you know Rancho Murieta will be holding its first American Cancer Society Relay for Life event at Stonehouse Park on August 1st and 2nd.  For those of you that are unfamilar with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, it is a fun-filled, overnight experience you'll never forget.  It brings together friends, family members, businesses, schools, places of worship and mobilizes communities to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones and raise money to support the mission of the American Cancer Society ...  to eliminate cancer.  Throughout Relay for Life, teams of friends, neighbors, families and co-workers commit to keeping at least one member walking the track for a 24 hour period ... because cancer never sleeps.  If you have not yet joined a team, it is not too late!

An important part of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life is the celebration of nearly 11 million cancer survivors who are alive in the United States today.  Whether you are currently fighting your battle, or have been cancer-free for many years, you are a survivor.   Survivors are the main reason we continue to Relay.  You show we are making great strides in our fight against cancer, so we invite you to come join us.  We also celebrate the many Caregivers who have provided countless hours of care and support.

As a cancer survivor or caregiver, we invite you to join us for the inspirational Survivors' Lap that officially begins our annual Relay for Life.  For many, the experience of gathering together with other survivors is powerful and moving.  Your family is welcome to join you during this celebration as well.  As a participant of our opening ceremony, you will receive a special T-Shirt and gift, as well as, be provided with a special tent to stay cool under, as you enjoy the event.  You will also enjoy music and festivities, as well as show all Relay for Life Participants they ARE making a difference and that each step brings us closer to a cure.

To register before the event to receive your special invitation, simply register online at www.relayforlife.org/ranchomurietaca or complete a brief form that can be emailed or faxed to you.  Bev Powell at 354-2834; Virginia Wolfe at 354-0880 or Ginny Macko at 354-8490, Co-chairpersons of the Survivor Committee will be most happy to assist you with the sign up.  Completed registration forms can also be dropped off  at Ginny Macko's house at 6458 Via del Cerrito, Park 4.  You can also register on the day of the event, prior to the opening ceremony, which begins at 9:00 a.m.; however, we hope that you will register sooner so we can send you a special invitation to the celebration in your honor.

As a 30 year cancer survivor, I know that fighting back does make a difference. Thank you all for your support!
