Guitarist Craig Chaquico and six virtuoso musicians came to Lake Clementia Amphitheater Saturday night and made it their own with an inspired performance of the music Chaquico made famous as a member of the mega group Jefferson Starship and as a solo performer.
"I get high off of music and nature," the Sacramento native told the crowd, noting the perfect summer evening by the lake.
Chaquico connected with the audience from the start as he headed down the grassy aisle of the amphitheater to join the band already onstage. He returned to the audience area later in the show to use an ice chest as an impromptu stage.
The Entertainment, Theatre and Culture for Rancho Murieta show began with the awarding of a $1,000 scholarship to Sarah Trent, who wrote the winning essay in the ETC contest for graduating high school seniors. Jude Gaither presented the check.
