The coat dinner at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church on Cantova Way is an annual holiday tradition that collects clean, gently used jackets or coats, sleeping bags and blankets for Loaves and Fishes and the Union Gospel Mission to distribute to needy and homeless people. Admission to the dinner is a jacket or coat, and a sleeping bag or blanket is good for two dinners.

This year's dinner takes place Friday, Dec. 9. A no-host bar opens at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Dinner consists of chili, corn bread, salad and dessert.

At last year's dinner, approximately 450 coats, blankets and sleeping bags were collected.
