The Holiday Tree Lighting at the Gazebo starts the season's festivities Friday. Music and party events and the annual holiday lights contest follow. Event information is available here.

  • The Holiday Tree Lighting event at the North Gazebo marks the official start of the holiday season in Rancho Murieta. Santa arrives at 6 p.m. Friday to turn on the lights and visit with the children. Be sure to bring your camera and plan on enjoying refreshments too. The event is sponsored by the Optimist Club.
  • The Rancho Murieta Country Club Holiday Party will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Murieta Room and the Terrace Lounge. The event is open to members and guests. The cost is $20 per person, with 25 percent going to the Wounded Warrior Project. The bar opens at 6 p.m. and live entertainment begins at 7 p.m. with the Summerset Big Band performing from 7 to 9 p.m. and Back 2 Back from 9 to 11:30 p.m. Club members can contact the club at 354-3416 for information and to make reservations.
  • "It's Almost Christmas -- Day," a special holiday concert featuring recording artist Spencer Day and The New West Guitar Group, takes place Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Country Club. Concert tickets are $25 per person. Tickets for club members are available by contacting the Country Club office at 354-3416. Non-members can purchase tickets at islandproductions.tix.com. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • The annual Toy and Food Drive sponsored by the Rancho Murieta Association Recreation Committee benefits the Elk Grove Unified School District Healthy Start  Program. The drive is now underway and non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the RMA Building through Dec. 16.
  • The Rancho Murieta Association's annual Holiday Lights contest will have more winners than ever this year. To enter, all you have to do is decorate your house and make sure the lights are on every evening from Dec. 10 to 15, when judges from the RMA Recreation Committee will be cruising the neighborhood. Winners will be announced at the Dec. 17 RMA board meeting.
