Cosumnes River Little League will kick off the season with opening day ceremonies, including a parade from the North Gazebo to Stonehouse Park, 10 a.m. March 20.  The celebration will begin with teams lining up on Murieta Parkway, as they did last year, and jump houses and other fun as part of the Stonehouse Park events.

One change from past years -- only players in uniform will enjoy the barbecue for free. Everyone else will be charged $1 for a hot dog or hamburger and drink.  In past years, everyone in attendance ate for free.

In an e-mail, league president Bob Book said league officials talked at length about how to fund the day, and this was the closest they could get to continuing the tradition without charging everyone full price.
