Sacramento County Animal Care is looking into the deaths of three cats in Rancho Murieta North earlier this month, Security said Friday.
Security Chief Greg Remson wrote in an email that the community’s maintenance workers picked up the bodies of two cats in the Rio Oso / Via Del Cerrito area late last week. Then Monday, Security was notified of a dead cat in that area, the same day Rancho Murieta Association Maintenance notified Security of the other two cats.
“Since the cats had no outward sign of injury, one of the cats was taken to Animal Control for testing to try to determine the cause of death,” Remson wrote.
Although outdoor cats are threatened by coyotes and other predators, Security wanted to determine if the pets had been poisoned, Remson said.
