As they have for a dozen years, Kiwanis Club volunteers will once again host a pancake breakfast at the North Gazebo to begin the community's July 4 celebration. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and runs through 9:30 a.m. Tickets are $5 for ages 7 and up, and younger children eat for free.

Tickets can be purchased at the Rancho Murieta Association Building and the Rancho Murieta Business Center in the Plaza. On weekends, tickets will be sold in front of the Local Bean Cafe.

Another annual tradition is the Independence Day poster contest. These are the Cosumnes River Elementary School students who won this year's contest and their winning entries:

  • Jayce Dilbeck, You're #1
  • Emma Temple, Awesome Job!
  • Catherine Corsaut, Great Job!
  • Aubree Davis, All Star

Look for the posters in the window of Ace Hardware.
