The holiday weekend starts with with a run on Thanksgiving Day, followed by Santa’s arrival Friday evening -- at a new location -- and a dance party fundraiser at the Country Club Saturday night. Here are the details.
Thursday, 8 a.m.
The 4th annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot moves to Stonehouse Park on Escuela Drive because of construction at the Gazebo. The recommended donation to participate in the run is $5, with all donations going to the Fisher House Foundation, which provides free or low-cost accommodations to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers. Family flag football is scheduled immediately after the run.
Friday, 6 p.m.
The annual tree lighting event also moves from the Gazebo to Stonehouse Park this year. Santa will do the lighting honors and then visit with the little ones, so bring your camera. Refreshments are provided. The free event is sponsored by the Optimist Club.
Saturday, 8 p.m.
Dance Party! A Benefit for the Ntale Family goes to midnight at the Rancho Murieta Country Club, with music by Back 2 Back. The cost is $12 per person in advance and $15 at the door. Proceeds benefit the family of Doreen Ntale, a young mother who is fighting cancer.
