If you want to see Rancho Murieta's best holiday lights, you can drive around and take your chances, or you can check out the homes honored by the Rancho Murieta Association's holiday lights contest.  There are seven homes on the South and 10 on the North.  Here's a map of the winners.

Ooops

The address for the house on Topspin is wrong. It should be 15513 Topspin Way (on the corner of Topspin and Colbert). And while you are in the neighborhood, the house at the end of Topspin, in the cul de sac, is worth visiting, too.

Error corrected

Overlooked

15576 Topspin is the address I referred to above. Definitely worth seeing...shoulda' been a winner in our humble opinion. (No, I don't know the people who live there.)

Holiday lights WARNING

I am greatful and humbled that my family has won for the 4th year in a row. Unfortunityly I want to let the community and espically the other winners know, that some people in the community do not share the same sense of pride or respect for other peoples property. Last night (saturday, 12/20/2014) someone or a group saw fit to destroy a brand new decoration that I had added to our display and damage an old favorite. We were not the only one's.  RMA  security reported they had found another house on Reynosa that had also been vandilized (aslo a winner) So a word of warning to the holiday winners there is a grinch or group of grinches going around and trying to ruin our community Christmas.

where were your teenagers saturday night?

In addition to the Christmas lights getting destroyed, I know of at least two houses that had their garage doors bashed in by either running into it with a golf cart or jumping into the doors themselves. This is really getting out of hand. There is video of one of the houses that supposedly shows a GEM golf cart leaving one of the houses. If these kids are underage, guess who is liable? The parents since they we are underage and I'm no lawyer but I also heard the parents may be criminally charged since it was past curfew and it may be a felony as the damage is over 1000 dollars. Anyone know someone with a GEM cart and a teenage boy, likely 14-18 years old (probably on the lower end of the range as they weren't in a car). I'd guess the dominos are about to to start falling and the damage was pretty bad. Parents, did you know you can track your kid via their cell phone. If my son was out messing around on Saturday night I can guarantee you I would be looking into this. The police and insurance are involved now and checkbook diplomacy will likely not work this time. It's time this wanton destruction ends. I mean who destroys Christmas light displays. Unbelievable. Time to stop looking the other way and teach some hard life lessons.

Police with teeth

While most of the criminal activity in and around Rancho Murieta is pretty petty, a town of more than 5,600 people should have a police force with authority to detain and arrest.

I agree

Yup Craig, I've wanted some real authority for some time but seems the majority of residents would rather not be held accountable...
