St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church is celebrating Mass at Lake Clementia Amphitheater Sunday. Following the 10 a.m. service, there will be a picnic with barbecued chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers, a variety of hors d' oeurves, salads, snacks and homemade desserts. Pizza event for parents, teens June 27

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church is hosting Pizza-Rap-N-Rock, an evening of music, pizza and talk for parents, teens and 'tweens Friday, June 27.

The SVDP New Youth Rock Band will be featured performers. The event is a chance for kids in the 6th grade and up to socialize, while parents have the opportunity to share their concerns and discuss ways the church and the community can be a resource for them. Community Church's school plans call for opening in 2010

The Rancho Murieta Community Church has announced it will establish a school as part of its new church facility. The complex will be constructed on a 20-acre Stonehouse Road site donated by the Frank family in 2005. The Rancho Murieta Christian Academy is expected to open in the fall of 2010. Services for Easter Week have been announced for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Rancho Murieta Community Church.

The Easter week schedule at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Cantova Way includes the following:

  • Monday, March 17 -- Prayer Group, 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 18 -- Mass, 8:30 a.m.
  • Good Friday, March 21 -- Rites followed by the Stations of the Cross, 2 p.m.
  • Easter Sunday -- Mass will be celebrated at 9 and 10:30 a.m.

Community Church offers Easter musical and services

The Rancho Murieta Community Church presents "Look to The Lamb," an Easter musical and drama, Saturday, March 22, at 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 23, at 8 a.m. at the church, located next to the fire station. Admission is free but tickets are required due to limited seating. Contact the church office at 354-0401 to reserve tickets.

"Look to The Lamb" borrows from the rich history of Christian music and features both classic and modern worship songs performed by the choir. A special dramatization of the Easter story performed by the Drama Team is interwoven throughout the musical.

Grief recovery workshop starts Feb. 12

Rancho Murieta Community Church is offering a six-week, faith-based grief recovery workshop. The first class takes place Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at the church's facilities on Murieta Drive next to the fire station.

The group will continue to meet on Tuesdays for the duration of the workshop.

Planning group to consider church and irrigation plans

Two projects of interest to Murietans come before a citizens' planning group Jan. 23. The Cosumnes River Community Planning Advisory Council will consider plans to construct facilities for the Rancho Murieta Community Church and a proposal for an irrigation project that would use reclaimed wastewater supplied by the Community Services District to water pasture land. Community Church unveils plans for new facility

The large white cross in the field next to Jackson Road marks the site where the Rancho Murieta Community Church will build its church. The 20-acre site on Stonehouse Road was donated by the Frank family two years ago and the plans have now started their way through the county approval process.
