The Rancho Murieta Fishing Club is inviting the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony 2 p.m. Wednesday to open the new boat ramp at Lake Clementia. It's an opportunity to thank the Rancho Murieta Association, RMA Maintenance Manager Rod Hart and his staff and to support the Rancho Murieta Fishing Club. Lessons on choices, decisions and vandalism

There wasn’t anything good about the vandalism of the new Stonehouse Park soccer turf, but the Rancho Murieta Soccer Club and Pleasant Grove Lacrosse Club tried to turn it into a positive Monday afternoon. The Cecchettini Ranch in Sloughhouse was filled with more than 100 River Valley Garden Club members and friends for the club’s annual "From Farm to Fork Dinner" on Saturday. This event funds a program that since 2007 has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to Cosumnes River College and American River College students who are studying for a degree in horticulture. In addition to dinner, there was music by the Bags Groove Band and a silent auction. Special thanks went to 18 Amador County winery donors and 18 other local business donors, along with hosts Mindy and Wayne Cecchettini. It's time to pick a couple of good pumpkins

The Tamimaya family did some pumpkin picking Saturday afternoon, and 4-year-old C.J. had a special selection of his own. Boy Scout Troop 633 is holding the sale at the Gazebo this weekend, due to the weather, and in the usual spot, across from the fire station, next weekend. They'll be selling from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. They have pumpkins for carving, baking and decoration. All funds raised benefit the troop's camping trips, program activities, advancement badges and more. Davis Ranch donated the pumpkins for the troop's annual fundraiser. Click photo for larger image. Scout pumpkin sale next two weekends

Boy Scout Troop 633 is holding its annual pumpkin sale for the next two weekends. The pumpkins are available in all shapes and sizes. They include the perfect carving pumpkins, Cinderella pumpkins, and white pumpkins ideal for pie baking. The sale will be at the Gazebo today and Sunday and across from Murieta Plaza on Oct. 22 and 23.  All funds raised benefit the troop, helping to fund camping trips, program activities, advancement badges and more. Hops grower David Utterback was one of the knowledgeable people pouring beer and wine and sharing their expertise with an eager crowd of tasters at the Kiwanis Club's annual Blues & Brews event Saturday. Blues & Brews coming to Clementia Saturday

Time to make your July 4 breakfast plans

As they have for a dozen years, Kiwanis Club volunteers will once again host a pancake breakfast at the North Gazebo to begin the community's July 4 celebration. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and runs through 9:30 a.m. Tickets are $5 for ages 7 and up, and younger children eat for free.

Tickets can be purchased at the Rancho Murieta Association Building and the Rancho Murieta Business Center in the Plaza. On weekends, tickets will be sold in front of the Local Bean Cafe.
