Neighbor tells cable committee free channels should be available to all

The ad hoc committee for the Rancho Murieta Association cable system heard from a resident who believes RMA should continue to provide local channels for members who decide not to pay for basic programming. The RMA recently sent a letter to members offering the programming opt-out with a $19.72 reduction in monthly dues. Also at Tuesday night's meeting, RMA President Jim Moore said the RMA had received between 90 and 100 letters requesting the opt-out. RMA cable outage hits Oscars show

A cable outage that interrupted the Academy Awards broadcast on the Rancho Murieta Association cable system is being addressed, General Manager Danise Hetland reported late Sunday afternoon. The outage affects RMA Channels 10, 11 and 12, Hetland said. Hetland said a cable technician had been dispatched to work on the problem. The cause of the outage was unknown. Cable problem on Super Bowl Sunday? RMA will have a tech person on duty

The Rancho Murieta Association announced Saturday night that a cable-TV tech person will be available on Super Bowl Sunday to handle any issues with reception of RMA cable.

Here's what RMA said in its announcement, from Danise Hetland, assistant general manager:

"RMA would like to let members know that tomorrow, Super Bowl Sunday, we will have a tech on site in case anyone has problems with their TV service.  Since Super Bowl Sunday is a big get together day, we wanted to provide an extra level of service.  The tech will be on site beginning at 11:00 until after the game is over.  Please call 869-9696, if you have problems with your cable TV service.  Enjoy the game!" RMA announces e-mail service interruption

The Rancho Murieta Association says e-mail on its broadband service will be interrupted Thursday while the service provider upgrades equipment. Incoming e-mail service to ranchomurieta.org customers will be turned off between midnight and 8 a.m.

During that time, customers won't be able to download messages. The delayed e-mail will be delivered to mailboxes after maintenance work is completed. Problems with Channels 10 and 13 are with the stations, RMA says

The Rancho Murieta Association says the problems with Channels 10 and 13 on the RMA cable system are with the stations and not RMA. The analog signal has been restored, but the high-definition signals are still being worked on by 10 and 13, General Manager David Stiffler said Wednesday. Members approve cable change by 3-1 margin

The Rancho Murieta Association Thursday night heard the results of a bylaws amendment vote to make participation in the community's cable system optional.  Members approved the measure 1,158-334.

The vote-totals announcement by Dick Silvis, inspector of elections, wrapped up the RMA's annual meeting in its third session.  Thursday's meeting lasted only five minutes -- long enough to hear the vote total and for board President Dick Cox to thank Silvis and his volunteer crew for their work. RMA directors weigh cable, July 4 and security cameras in 2009 budget

At the end of a three-hour workshop Saturday afternoon, directors of the Rancho Murieta Association were prepared to approve a 2009 budget that will increase monthly dues by $4.
