After several days of April showers, Friday dawned clear and sunny, just in time for the Rancho Murieta Women's Club garden tour. "A Potpourri of Spring Gardens" offered nine gardens on the North and the South to tour, plus a 10th garden where food and refreshments were served at the tour's end.  Read more »

CRESSummer vacation begins today at Cosumnes River Elementary, and pupils will never see the same campus again. When they return in the fall, work will be well under way on a new $15 million campus that's almost five times the size of the present facility -- making it the largest elementary school in the Elk Grove Unified School District. Video: ETC kicks off season despite rain

A rainy Sunday morning didn't deter Entertainment, Theatre & Culture.  In the best tradition of "the show must go on," the group put up tents and held the 2009 season kickoff at Lake Clementia Park.  Hundreds of people turned out.  (Video is 4:53.)

Video: Giving wings to Murieta's youth

For more than a decade, aviators have been meeting at Rancho Murieta Airport to talk about their love of flying and how to get the message out. This summer, they offered an aviation camp for area youth. Sunday, they're offering an open house and pancake breakfast at the airport from 9 a.m. to noon. The open house, which they offer several times a year, is open to all, and children 8 to 17 can fly for free (with parental permission). Take a look.  Read more »
