Murieta's first Italian Festival spices up Lake Clementia

Hillside

Sausage hors d'oeuvres

Rancho Murieta's first Italian Festival, benefitting St. Vincent De Paul's outreach efforts, was a sell-out hit Sunday afternoon, with 200 paying customers spread around Lake Clementia Amphitheater. Event organizer Natachia Taylor was on the run throughout the day but found a few moments to distribute doggie treats, above. The festival featured food (like the sausage hors d'oeuvres at right), wine, crafts, a contest to produce the best one-hour spaghetti sauce (winning recipe below), a pooch parade, a grape-stomping event and a lot of neighborly socializing. It concluded with a spaghetti dinner and the music and singing of a strolling accordionist as the beautiful autumn day drew to a close.  Read more »

Teen night draws a crowd at Clementia

The free event started lakeside with swimming, games, BBQ, chips and drinks and music by the St. Vincent's Friday Night Jam Band. After the sun set, the action moved to the amphitheater, where there was dancing to music provided by DJ Jered. Teenagers were involved in planning the event, which was chaired by 16-year-old Dan Field. The event was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and Rancho Murieta Community Church.

An overflow crowd celebrated the Rancho Murieta Community Church's move to a new facility on Cantova Way Sunday. More than 200 attended the service to dedicate the church. The move from the firehouse on Murieta Drive to the FAA building was accomplished in six days after six months of planning, said Rev. Rick Pitcher, interim senior pastor. The Community Church changed places with Calvary Fellowship Rancho Murieta, an outreach of Calvary Chapel Laguna Creek, which held its first service at the firehouse building at the same time Sunday.

Coat dinner

The price of admission to the annual Coat Dinner at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church is a coat, and many of the hundreds attending the chili dinner Friday arrived at the brightly decorated social hall with armloads. Pam Murphy and Quincey Roxburgh were part of the group of volunteers who sorted and packed the warm outerwear in bags for delivery to Loaves and Fishes. The donations will be distributed to the homeless.
