Teen Dance offers the new and the old

Teen dance

The second annual winter Teen Dance was held Saturday night at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church social hall. It attracted scores of the community's young people, who showed off the latest moves as well as the tried and true. After all, can any dance in Rancho Murieta be complete without everyone hitting the dance floor for "YMCA"? The event was put on for ages 13 to 18 by the Kiwanis Club, St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and the Rancho Murieta Community Church.

Dozens of children, many dressed for the occasion, enjoyed a treasure hunt, making chalk art and eating specially decorated cupcakes. There’s information about the Moms group here.

Naida West

Neighbor Naida West held a book-signing in front of Plaza Foods Saturday to mark her latest historical novel, “Rest for the Wicked.”  The history of the area inspired West to begin her career as a self-published novelist after she moved to the Granlees estate in Rancho Murieta in the 1980s. The latest book concludes a trilogy of historical novels set in the area.
