Ballot count: Motorcycle change to CC&Rs fails

The Rancho Murieta Association announced Tuesday that the effort to revise the CC&Rs to permit motorcycles on the North did not gain enough votes to pass.

Here's the announcement from Danise Hetland, assistant general manager: "The Tally Committee met today to count the votes on the proposed CC&R amendment to allow motorcycles on the North.  There were 574 votes in favor of the amendment and 725 votes against the amendment.  The number of votes needed for passage was 1,299 (60%), therefore the amendment fails."

RMA won't extend vote on motorcycle CC&R

At its meeting Tuesday, the Rancho Murieta Association board voted not to extend the voting deadline for the election to amend the motorcycle CC&R for the North beyond the Oct. 6 deadline. The board announced the three candidates for two board seats -- Lou Lopez, Tom Landwehr and incumbent Randy Jenco -- and set Oct. 11 for Candidates’ Night  and Nov. 15 for the annual meeting and election. RMA board discusses votes on community center and motorcycle CC&R

The Rancho Murieta Association board of directors set a goal Tuesday to send out ballots by the end of April for a membership vote on the proposed community center and pool. The board selected the community center as its top goal for the third consecutive year at the goal workshop it held at the RMA Building, and also carried over rebuilding the North Gate as a top priority. The directors discussed having a membership vote on a CC&R revision to  allow motorcycles in Murieta North, but did not designate the vote as a goal. “It’s exciting to be both your neighbor and your employee,” said the association’s new communications manager, Paul Venturella, when he was introduced by President Jim Moore at Tuesday’s meeting as the board, staff and audience members applauded.

The Rancho Murieta Association board took care of business at its January meeting in under 90 minutes Tuesday,  approving a contract for Fourth of July fireworks and post and cable fencing on the South pedestrian bridge access. Driveway parking continued to be a topic of discussion as the board granted two of three requests for driveway parking variances, including one the Architectural Review Committee voted to deny. Neighbor questions RMA about driveway parking

For a community where vehicles are meant to be garaged, Rancho Murieta has a lot of cars sitting in driveways. That's Carl Gaither's observation after a recent late-night drive around the North and South. He counted over 250 vehicles "single-parked and double-parked and sometimes triple-parked in the driveway and 11 cars parked on the street."
