The Chicago Tribute Authority gave summer a send-off  to remember Saturday night at Lake Clementia Amphitheater with the trademark horns and repertoire begun in the '60s by the legendary rock band Chicago. With a sliver of moon and a sky full of stars as a backdrop, the troupe of eight musicians gave virtuoso performances of “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?,” “25 or 6 to 4,” “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day,” “If You Leave Me Now,” “Make Me Smile,” “Questions 67 and 68,” “Saturday in the Park” and other songs that kept the dance floor crowded. The evening’s festivities began with a couple of flyovers by a patriotically decorated plane. The concert was presented by Entertainment, Theatre & Culture, which has an October show planned. Saturday was the last night of the Summerfest carnival at Stonehouse Park and fireworks  added to the neon-bright amusement park rides and midway. The show took on another dimension when a grass fire erupted along Stonehouse Road across from the park during the fireworks display. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters on hand for the fireworks. The carnival is an annual event put on by Summerfest, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that benefits local charities and groups in the Rancho Murieta Community and surrounding area. The latest in the Entertainment, Theatre & Culture summer concert series, SuperHuey launched the feel-good hits with “The Heart of Rock & Roll” and never looked back. With audience participation part of the show, the crowd kept beach balls afloat and sang along as the seven-member group performed “The Power of Love,” “If This is It” and other hits of the 1980s and early ‘90s. The evening began with a check presentation to Shannon Westerberg, below left, the winner of this year’s $2,000 ETC scholarship. The oversized check was presented by Realtor Karen Hoberg, center, of Rancho Murieta Homes & Land, ETC title sponsor, with last year’s recipient, Chloé Carillo, assisting. Stevie Wonder tribute

Red square Photo gallery: 63 shots of the crowd and the show

The Entertainment, Theatre & Culture summer concert series started off with a double-header tribute to rock icons Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Stevie Wonder Saturday night at Lake Clementia Amphitheater. First up was Petty Theft, a band of six musicians who captured the style and spirit of Heartbreakers’ hits “I Won’t Back Down,” “An American Girl,” “Breakdown,” “Refugee” and more as the heat of the day became evening cool and the crowd on the dance floor grew. After two encores, Petty Theft left the stage and ETC gave away prizes and a gift certificate from sponsor Plaza Foods before Timeless Wonder began the second show of the night with a rousing version of “Sir Duke.” The five-member ensemble featured vocalist Steven Baldwin embodying the look and sound of Stevie Wonder at the keyboard. In addition to selections from the iconic ‘70s “Songs in the Key of Life” LP, the group performed hits that defined other decades, from the 1960s hit “My Cherie Amour” to the 1980s’ “I Just Called to Say I Love You” for the audience of about 600.
