Platinum Rock Stars

Red square Photo gallery: 55 shots of the audience and the show

Even before they broke into Grand Funk Railroad's  "We're an American Band," the Platinum Rockstars made it clear at Lake Clementia Amphitheater Saturday night that they're in the grand rock-and-roll tradition of screaming guitars and larger-than-life stage personalities. And the crowd of about 800 attending the latest Entertainment, Theatre & Culture summer concert loved it. From a mashup of Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" and Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever," to stand-alone hits by Boston, Styx, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Van Halen, Bon Jovi and other '70s and '80s greats, it was a concert designed to get the biggest bang out of a summer holiday weekend. Before the concert began, ETC awarded a $1,000 scholarship to essay contest winner Chloé Carillo, a graduating high school senior. More information about the ETC summer concert season is here.
