It was a hot time at Lake Clementia Saturday night as the latest Entertainment, Theatre & Culture concert set the stage for the holiday week coming up. After CalAirShows' red, white and blue “Miss America” plane zoomed by a few times to the delight of the crowd, The Heart of Rock & Roll, a Huey Lewis tribute band, lit up the stage like a Fourth of July firecracker with its namesake song. What followed was a hits-filled evening that included “Do You Believe in Love,” “Heart and Soul,” “The Boys are Back in Town,” music from ‘80s classic movie “Back to the Future,” and a foray onto the dance floor by the group’s Huey Lewis doppelgänger front man during “Stuck With You.” ETC estimated the crowd at about 700. The next ETC concert is July 21, a tribute to country music legends. (Click photo for larger image.) Read more » about ETC brings back the '80s with Huey tribute

Murietans know how to make the most of triple-digit days, and this crowd included a half-dozen people having a golf-cart tailgate in a splash of shade on the basketball court. Blankets dotted the slopes, picnics were unpacked, and Murietans were ready to party when the music returned to Lake Clementia Amphitheater Saturday night. The veteran musicians of Bad Company tribute band 10 From 6 launched the Entertainment, Theatre & Culture summer concert series with a rock-solid repertoire of ‘70s and ‘80s hits. The group, named for a 1985 Bad Company greatest-hits album, connected with the crowd and had them dancing in front of the stage to “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” “All Right Now,” “Silver, Blue & Gold,” “Can’t Get Enough,” “Bad Company” and more, for an auspicious beginning for another ETC season. Howlin' Alan BandThe second "FreeRock" concert of the summer drew a nice crowd to the Gazebo Saturday afternoon – more than 50 people before the Howlin' Alan Band had completed its first set, and more people were still settling in under the Gazebo cover or pulling their carts into the parking lot. That first set featured numbers by the Beatles, Creedence, Bob Seger, Randy Newman and Warren Zevon. (Now there's an eclectic set list.) The next FreeRock show is June 23.
