The Cecchettini Ranch in Sloughhouse was filled with more than 100 River Valley Garden Club members and friends for the club’s annual "From Farm to Fork Dinner" on Saturday. This event funds a program that since 2007 has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to Cosumnes River College and American River College students who are studying for a degree in horticulture. In addition to dinner, there was music by the Bags Groove Band and a silent auction. Special thanks went to 18 Amador County winery donors and 18 other local business donors, along with hosts Mindy and Wayne Cecchettini. Music, wine, food and classic cars replaced golfers on the 18th fairway Sunday as the Rancho Murieta Country Club hosted its second Wine & Wheels event. Fifteen wineries from Amador County offered a variety of wines for tasting and food vendors served a multitude of foods -- pizza fresh from a fire-fed oven, open-pit BBQ, handmade tortillas and cold treats for a warm day. The crowd enjoyed the outdoor feast family-style at long tables. At the other end of the fairway, the clubhouse became a backdrop for gleaming vintage autos. (Click photo for larger image.) Music Mike

Music Mike worked his magic at Lake Clementia Amphitheater Sunday afternoon as dozens of children happily danced fast and slow, did the Limbo, played maracas, waved colorful scarves and sat “crisscross spaghetti sauce” style for sing-alongs. Parents and grandparents looked on from beach chairs and blankets dotting the slopes except when invited to join in. A total of 131 attended the free performance, according to the Kiwanis Club, which sponsors the annual event. (Click photo for larger image.) Tainted Love

Red square Photo gallery: 35 shots of the crowd and the show

It was a dance party at Lake Clementia Saturday night as San Francisco band Tainted Love made a return visit to once again close the Entertainment, Theatre & Culture concert season in a big way. The holiday crowd was among ETC’s largest, picnics on the blanket-covered slopes were feasts, and the ‘80s music the seven-member group performed was epic, featuring hits by Bryan Adams, Madonna, John Mellencamp, David Bowie and other icons. A little boy provided one of the night’s memorable moments after he was lifted onto the stage and began an inspired dance that wowed the audience and even the band. The evening began with a performance by Rancho Murieta’s own Cooks In the Kitchen and a thank you to ETC board members, who were introduced from the stage. Was your kid one of the ones who posed in the group shot at the start of the show? Click to the next page to see. Click photo for larger image. Read more » about Closing out another summer with ETC
