Getting dressed for the Fourth

Golf carts won't be the only things decked out in red, white and blue for the July 4 holiday. Townhouses are getting into the Independence Day spirit with a decorating contest sponsored by the Murieta Townhouses Inc. Social Committee.

"We are hoping the residents around Laguna Joaquin and in the other townhouse areas will really show off for all the visitors Rancho Murieta entertains for the festivities," MTI Director Bobbie Fite wrote in a e-mail announcing the contest. Laguna Joaquin townhouses have a front-row seat for the fireworks display. A panel of judges will award first, second and third place ribbons to contest winners Read more » about Getting dressed for the Fourth

Pony rides were a new attraction at this year's Easter Egg Hunt, held Saturday afternoon at Stonehouse Park.  The event, staged by the Kiwanis Club and volunteers, attracted hundreds of children and their families.  They had the usual Easter fun, enjoyed the goods at a bake sale and were entertained by dancers, balloon artists and face painters.  The Sheriff's Department offered fingerprinting, and the SPCA was there with dogs. Luminaries

Rancho Murieta has touches that make Christmas unique. Hundreds of luminaria welcomed visitors at the South Gate Christmas Eve after Rotary club members and volunteers lighted both entrances to the community, stretching to Reynosa Drive on the South and beyond De La Cruz Drive on the North. Elsewhere in the community, real deer mingled with decorative ones, golf carts got dressed up for the holidays and there was live Christmas music at Plaza Foods. Santa

The holiday golf cart parade returned to Rancho Murieta Friday night after a year’s hiatus and had its best weather ever (chilly, but not cold) and a visit from an old friend, Santa.   The parade, put together by the Kiwanis Club and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, had legs on the South and North, and about 20 carts on each, led by fire equipment and Santa.  Participants enjoyed hot chocolate and socializing.
