RMA extends hours to hand out July 4 visitor passes

The Rancho Murieta Association has extended its office hours to accommodate residents who need visitor passes for July 4. Assistant General Manager Danise Hetland announced Thursday that the RMA Building will be open today and July 3 until 7 p.m. and on July 4 from 8 a.m. to noon to allow members to pick up passes for their guests.

The RMA's normal weekday business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The first five guest passes are free and additional holiday passes cost $5 apiece. Each pass is good for a carload of visitors.

Traffic at the gate is expected to be particularly heavy this year since the holiday falls on a Friday. Residents are asked to get passes and give them to their guests in advance to avoid delays and backups at the gates. Read more » about RMA extends hours to hand out July 4 visitor passes

Memorial Day ceremony honors those who gave their lives

Memorial Day

It's now a tradition for Boy Scout Troop 633 to conduct a solemn ceremony to retire the community's tattered flags on Memorial Day. This year about 25 people gathered at the edge of Lake Calero Monday evening to watch the scouts dedicate the flags to the memory of the troops who fought in each of our nation's conflicts. The ceremony addressed each of the conflicts, beginning with the Revolutionary War and ending with the war on terrorism. The music of bagpiper Chuck Jamison, a retired Army captain, brought a haunting touch to the event. See a video of him playing "Taps" here.
