The first performance of the annual Rancho Murieta Community Church Christmas show took place at the Country Club Monday evening. This year's drama centers on the interactions of five strangers stranded on an elevator on Christmas Eve. The adult choir performed Christmas songs throughout the evening, and the children's ensemble opened the program. A selection of gourmet desserts served with coffee is included in the $12 admission. Santa Claus pays a visit

The holiday season in Rancho Murieta officially began Friday with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Gazebo and the lighting of the community Christmas tree. It was a first visit with Santa for Blair Foster, 3. Her brother Mitchell, 6, was with her. The annual event was put on by Murieta Activities and the Optimist Club.

 

Dancers

Students from the Premier Dance Academy put on a show at the Gazebo, and parents were at the ready with their cameras to capture every magical moment.

With hunting outlawed here, even the community's wild turkeys have a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. Neighbor John Weatherford took this spectacular photo of preening tom turkeys in his backyard earlier this year.

Holiday Parade of Lights Dec. 9

Golf carts decked out in holiday decorations and lights will be joined by a Sac Metro fire engine for the community's annual Holiday Parade of Lights Sunday, Dec. 9. Participating carts will gather at the Country Club tennis courts on Alameda Drive starting at 5 p.m. Judging of the decorated carts takes place before the parade gets underway at 5:45 p.m.

The lighted carts will line up at the Country Club tennis courts starting at 5 p.m. and take the Yellow Bridge to Riverview Park, meeting up with Santa in a fire truck for caroling at 6 p.m. The parade returns to the North by way of the pedestrian bridge for caroling at the Gazebo at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Tree lighting at Gazebo Nov. 23

The holiday season officially begins with the annual tree lighting event at the North Gazebo. It takes place Friday, Nov. 23, starting at 6 p.m., with the lighting scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Parents are asked to bring their cameras to get photos of their children visiting with Santa Claus. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served, and dancers from the Premier Dance Academy will perform to Christmas songs. The event is sponsored by Murieta Activities and the Optimist Club. Holiday season begins with entertainment and good deeds

The Rancho Murieta Community Church has scheduled its annual Christmas musical drama, the Kiwanis Club is helping to collect Toys for Tots, the Rancho Murieta Association is holding its annual food and toy drive with the Elk Grove Unified School District, and the Women's Club is holding its annual Holiday Home Tour.
