Summerfest is here, Oct. 6-7, which means it’s a time of corndogs and stomach-churning rides. It’s a fun gathering, but it’s more than just fun: Look around and see the good it does for our community. (Go to summerfest-ranchomurieta.org for tickets and more information.)

Troop 633 has its first female Eagle
Boy Scout Troop 633 of Rancho Murieta, which has produced many an Eagle Scout, has its first female Eagle, Joy Salo, who won the honor in December. Her Eagle project? Two new benches on Lake Calero. (At the end, there’s a sidebar on another Eagle, Aaron Fong, who was honored at the same ceremony. He comes from a long line of brothers who were Eagle Scouts.)
Kiwanis: Doing good for us all
The Kiwanis is only 60-some people who meet twice a month, but what comes out of that is an astounding amount of community service and fun events. See the video for more. (Even more about the Kiwanis: https://rmkiwanis.org/ .)
New pastor, new church
Rancho Murieta Community Church got a new pastor at this time last year, and it was paired with a full-scale renovation of the church. Meet Phil Fuller and see what his church does. (The church is at 14670 Cantova Way.)
