Don’t be alarmed if you see smoke coming from the community’s manhole covers over the next few weeks. The Community Services District says it will be using a low-cost smoke testing technique to locate and identify sewer line faults.
Testing begins Tuesday in Murieta Village.
For the test, sections of a sewer run will be sealed and smoke will be blown into the lines. Escaping smoke can indicate leaks that allow storm water to get into the sewer system or other problems, Paul Siebensohn, director of field operations, said in an announcement Friday.
