Holiday trash pickup Monday -- or Wednesday

If you're in Units 3 or 4 in the North and your trash didn't get picked up Monday, it will be collected on Wednesday, according to California Waste Recovery Systems. Tuesday trash collection was rescheduled to Monday to accommodate the Christmas and New Year holidays. There's smoke, but no fire, in upcoming sewer tests

Don’t be alarmed if you see smoke coming from the community’s manhole covers over the next few weeks. The Community Services District says it will be using a low-cost smoke testing technique to locate and identify sewer line faults.

Testing begins Tuesday in Murieta Village.

For the test, sections of a sewer run will be sealed and smoke will be blown into the lines. Escaping smoke can indicate leaks that allow storm water to get into the sewer system or other problems, Paul Siebensohn, director of field operations, said in an announcement Friday. Change announced for holiday trash collection

If your garbage is picked up on Tuesdays, you're in for a change during the holidays.

California Waste Recovery Systems has rescheduled Tuesday's garbage collection -- which would have fallen on Christmas Day and New Year's Day -- to the day before, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.  The regular Tuesday pick-up schedule will resume Jan. 8.

Wednesday and Thursday pick-up schedules are unchanged.
