CSD alters irrigation rules, joins county panel

In a special meeting Wednesday, the Community Services District board followed the state lead and loosened its irrigation restrictions to allow three-times-a-week landscape watering. The board also appointed a representative to a county committee on development, an appointment that followed questions about whether the meetings will be public – they won't – and a bit of wrangling over who would be named to the committee. CSD is headed for zero hike in monthly bills

The Community Services District is heading into the home stretch for a 2016-17 budget with no increase in monthly residential bills for water, sewer, drainage, security and trash collection services.  Last week the board approved the introduction of the budget and an ordinance to amend rates. County is setting up talks on development

As it did a decade ago, Sacramento County is facilitating meetings on Rancho Murieta development and inviting key community players to take part.

The Community Services District has called a special meeting for 5 p.m. Wednesday to appoint a board representative to the sessions, which the CSD says are expected to begin in early June. In addition to a director, the board packet for Wednesday’s special meeting says the CSD is also expected to appoint its general manager.

The packet says the stakeholder groups include the developers, local ranchers, the Rancho Murieta Association and the Saving Our Lakes & Open Spaces (SOLOS) group, which has criticized current development plans. Read more » about County is setting up talks on development

RMA, CSD boards meet this week

The Rancho Murieta Association and Community Services District boards hold their monthly meetings this week. The RMA meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the RMA Building and the CSD meets at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the CSD Building.

RMA board action items include a fish restocking purchase and a left turn lane from Stonehouse Road to Escuela Drive. The CSD meeting includes a review of the 2016-17 budget followed by a public hearing on rate changes.

Hazardous waste event coming up May 21

An opportunity for Murietans to get rid of hazardous household waste is coming up May 21. Staged by the Community Services District, the drop-off will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the FAA Building, 14670 Cantova Way.

Fluorescent bulbs, needles and syringes, propane tanks (up to two, maximum seven gallons), gasoline, latex and oil-based paints, and other waste generated in the course of living in and maintaining a home will be accepted. Unacceptable items include medications, refrigerators, microwaves, e-waste and ammunition.

Greens Park advances; Security chief retires

At its monthly meeting, the Community Services District supported a plan to put the long-delayed Greens Park out to bid and considered amending restrictions on water use to allow three watering days a week. Security Chief Remson to retire in July

Security Chief Greg Remson will retire in July, after 32 years with the Community Services District, the CSD board was told at Wednesday evening's meeting. General Manager Darlene Gillum made the announcement at the outset of the 5 p.m. meeting. RMA, CSD monthly meetings this week

The Rancho Murieta Association and Community Services District boards hold their monthly meetings this week. The RMA meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the RMA Building and the CSD meets at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the CSD Building.

The agenda for the RMA meeting includes an update on developer park fees and board action on funding development of the Greens Park on the South. At the CSD meeting, the board will discuss amending water use restrictions and provide direction to its Parks Committee representative regarding the Greens Park.

CSD will rethink its approach to parks

The Community Services District board changed course on the issue of parks this month and also moved forward on a budget for 2016-17 with no overall cost increase for ratepayers. Instead of beginning the process to repeal a community parks fee it doesn’t collect, the CSD is now looking at embarking on a study to update the fee and parks projects. The Rancho Murieta Association board of directors seemed open to a community conversation about what kind of gate would be best at Escuela Drive when Stonehouse Road is improved – but some directors at Tuesday night's board meeting thought it’s too soon to be talking.
