Bridge opens quietly (with celebration still to come)

It was the perfect morning to open a bridge, and Rancho Murieta Association Maintenance Manager Rod Hart was the man of the moment, designated by RMA President Jack Cooper to do the honors Thursday.

The Operating Engineers, with the assistance of RMA Maintenance, replaced the South Gate overhang Wednesday morning. The structure was hit by a too-tall truck last August. Repairs were delayed by problems with the supports, which weren't built according to blueprints, the RMA said. The RMA plans to stucco the pillars once the structure is inspected.

New bridge will open Thursday, officials say

Rancho Murieta Association, Country Club and Community Services District officials announced Tuesday that the bridge connecting the North and South will open Thursday to pedestrian, golf cart and bicycle traffic.

As a bagpiper played the anthems of the armed services and "Amazing Grace,"  a dozen scouts from Scout Troop 633 conducted a solemn ceremony at sunset Monday to retire the community's tattered flags and honor those who have served their country and sacrificed their lives.

County, development opponents disagree on significance of latest delay in the process

Development opponents are claiming a major victory in the battle over projects proposed for Murieta North. They say work on an environmental impact report will have to go back to square one, implying that lengthy delays will result.
