So how's your propane bill?  There's a meeting Thursday to talk with the community's supplier.

Everyone's familiar with the run-up in gas prices at the pump, but they're rivaled by increases in propane, which is a by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining. Propane costs of about $2.50 a gallon this winter have raised Murieta's heating bills to a new high, and they've done the same nationally.

On Thursday at 10 a.m., representatives of Kamps Propane will be at the Rancho Murieta Association Building to talk about pricing and answer questions from propane customers.

According to RMA General Manager David Stiffler, 720 households belong to the cooperative Kamps operates in the community under an agreement with the association.

Propane Costs

I didn't care for Kamps "Customer Service" when I was trying to get my tank burried. I chose Ferrell Gas.  They had excellent CS.

Yesterday the cost was $2.19/gal. On 1/28 $2.28/gal.  On 1/2 $2.26 .  How much would I have saved with Kamps?

Our Kamps bills have been:

12/05: $2.12, 1/02: $2.38, 1/24: $2.47 and 2/13: $2.47

Ouch!

Propane Meeting

Who is putting together this meeting with Kamp's? I work, and am not able to be there on Thursday, but am concerned that when I called up Kamp's in December, I was told that their rate was tied to the price of oil, and that it was as low as they could go. I made the mistake of not talking with someone at Ferrell Gas (which I agree is a much nicer company than Kamp's), so didn't check out their story. But, it appears that we're paying in the range of 20 - 30 cents more per gallon, which can cost us each $40-$60 per month. Should we be thinking about having Kamp's remove our tanks, and replacing them with Ferrell Gas? Is Ferrell Gas willing to start a coop out here? I'm willing to join!

Propane Costs

I am not getting co-op pricing.  Kamps is the only propane co that is contracted with RM for thr co-op.

RVT - Allowed to Cover Story?

I just thought of this, will the RVT be allowed in to cover this important meeting? Did the RMA even think to let them know? How did the RVT know about meetings and/or events in the past?

So if the RVT is not going to attend the meeting, that means the only coverage will be by RM.com. And for those without computers or those who don't read RM.com? Well I guess they are out of luck....aren't they! Frown

RVT Coverage

Beth I attended the meeting with Kamps Manager Ty Rommel today and included among the 15 or so attendees was the RVT reporter as was Karen from RM.com.  Maybe someone invited him in!!!  I'm sure the community will be seeing their reports shortly.
