Don Thames and Danny GumsCountry Club Pro Don Thames and club champ Danny Gums won their division at the California State Club Team Championship over the weekend in Truckee.  They shot -11 and captured the Mixed division, with the professional player over 50 years old and the club champ under 50.  The tournament was held at Old Greenwood and the Golf Club at Gray's Crossing.

Thames and Gums are well known to golfers in Northern California and beyond.  Thames, a five-time club champ, competed in the U.S. Senior Open in 2008 and 2013 and the U.S. Senior Amateur in 2010. Last August, Gums won the club's Match Play Championship for the third time.

Schmuhl & Lewis of Windsor Golf Club Win 2014 NCPGA Cal State Club Championship

VACAVILLLE, Calif. - The Northern California Section of the Professional Golfers' Association is pleased to announce that the team of PGA Head Professional Jason Schmuhl of Windsor Golf Club (Windsor, CA) and Adam Lewis are the 2014 NCPGA California State Club Championship overall winners with a final score of 68-65-133 (-11).

The 35th Annual NCPGA California State Club Championship pairs a PGA Club Professional and the facility's 2013 Club Champion together against other teams.  This two-day championship was held at Old Greenwood (Par 72) and the Golf Club at Gray's Crossing (Par 72) in Truckee, California June 2-3, 2014.

First place for the Tour Division goes to PGA Head Golf Professional Steve Pellegrine and Darin Lake of Sunnyside Country Club (Kingsburg, CA) with a final score of 11 under par.

First place for the Mixed Division goes to Don Thames, PGA Apprentice and Director of Golf and Danny Gums representing Rancho Murieta Country Club in Rancho Murieta, CA with a final score of 11 under par.

The Champions Division winners were PGA Professional Charlie Gibson and Chuck Beard representing Morgan Creek G&CC in Roseville, CA with a final score of 11 under par.
