Calero water

Months after the Nov. 1 start of the water-diversion season, the Rancho Murieta Community Services District was finally able to divert water from the Cosumnes River to Calero reservoir Saturday after river flows exceeded 70 cubic feet per second, the threshold required for pumping. Unprecedented drought conditions facing the region have prompted the CSD to issue a Stage 2 water alert, with mandatory water-use restrictions for homes and businesses taking effect Saturday to reduce water use by 20 percent. Coverage of the CSD response to the drought is available here.
