A mandatory two-day-a-week irrigation schedule goes into effect today as the Rancho Murieta Community Services District prepares to shut down Water Treatment Plant #1 to construct an expanded and upgraded  plant. The community will depend on Water Treatment Plant #2 for potable water production during the project.

The new schedule allows landscape watering from midnight to 10 a.m. on Monday and Friday for the North, and at the same hours Tuesday and Saturday for the South, Murieta Village and the commercial area.

The CSD set out a series of fines residents will face if they violate the policy:

  • First offense: Verbal or written notice
  • Second offense: Written notice and a notice to correct
  • Third offense: $100 fine
  • Fourth offense: $200 fine
  • Fifth offense: $500 fine
  • Final offense: Disconnected water service or other penalties

The CSD has provided PDF files with information about the mandatory water conservation effort:

Information is also available on the CSD web site, www.rmcsd.com

Dry lawn

My lawn was looking a little dry so I skipped my shower today in order to give my lawn an extra day of water. Is that acceptable? It's a small lawn.

I'd say no

Sorry Bunky, I'd say no.  While yes you skipped your shower and you saved water there, still in reality you watered on the wrong day.  No one knows you skipped your shower except you and your household.   Can't really say whether you used the same amount of water or not and TPTB (the powers that be) will still think you did not comply regardless.

IMHO what's acceptable watering would be to collect the cold water from your shower in a bucket before it turns hot, then use that to water on something that needs it...like in our case an outside potted plant or our lemon bush.   :-)

Water cops

How Ironic! I got tagged this morning for watering my postage stamp sized lawn on the wrong day. At the same time I am reviewing my water bill and can tell you that I am using 22% less water than I did last year at this time. No good deed goes unpunished! I hope it wasnt something I said.

Water cops

So I wonder what CSD's procedure is for fixing water mains that are leaking?  An attempt was made to fix a leaking main on Puerto just North of 9 park 2 days ago that is now gushing ( the equivalent of 3 garden hoses full blast ) I  hope they have some sort of protocall for making emergency repairs. I would not be so critical had this not been fixed 2 days ago and the slurry from cutting the asphalt not been washed down the storm drain!

Water Leak on Puerto

According to my sources, CSD knows about it and it's being worked on........If you see water leaking anywhere in the streets, call the South Gate and report it.......they have on call water folks!

The leak on Puerto

Leak

Here’s the leak on Puerto Drive near 9 Park.  As Jacque says, the emergency, after-hours way to report problems like this is by calling the South Gate, at 354-3743.  You can also report a leak online, at the CSD’s website.
