Jackie Strain, a volunteer without peer in her 15 years in Rancho Murieta, died Nov. 25 after several battles with cancer. She was 81. Services will be held at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church on Cantova Way at 10 a.m. Friday.
Although her volunteerism started before she and her husband, Neil, moved to Rancho Murieta, Mrs. Strain was especially devoted to the Kiwanis and its works. Pamela Haines, who volunteered alongside Mrs. Strain in a number of those efforts, called her an inspiration.
“She always included her family and community when living her life,” Haines wrote in an email. “She didn't shy away from challenges or difficult issues. Any project she adopted, she made it better.
