Video: Tour the new Murieta Inn and Spa

The Murieta Inn and Spa – more than three years in the building – will open to the public Feb. 1. In this video, owner Carol Anderson Ward shows you around and answers questions about the restaurant, spa and other facilities and why the hotel took so long to build. (Ward is the longtime Equestrian Center owner and one of the investors in the North development.) The hotel has 83 rooms and rates of $189 a night and up, depending on season, according to Mary Orlando, general manager. In the coming days, there will be traffic as the hotel is guest-tested, with invited horse-show visitors and friends and family previewing the rooms, food and other services in advance of the official opening. The hotel staff emphasizes that all of Murieta will be more than welcome once the facility is fully open, but for now they ask that you await the official opening before stopping by. Wienermobile

License plateSeven-year-old Julia Garcia wasn't the only person to take a photo of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile during its Sunday stop at Murieta Plaza, but she might have been the youngest. It was quite an attraction, with slamming car brakes and people drawn by some unseen force to the wheeled wiener, where, we swear, some of them sang Oscar Mayer commercial jingles. (Because you asked, the vehicle is 27 feet long, 11 feet high and weighs seven tons.) At the lunch hour, the Murieta Market by Raley's people, being good hosts, wheeled out a bunch of hotdogs for everyone's enjoyment. At the star attraction they were handing out Wienermobile whistles and postcards. Click photos for larger images Read more » about You wish you were an Oscar Mayer wiener...

The sun wasn't up yet, but a dozen Murietans were waiting Saturday at 7 a.m. when Raley's opened its interim store in Murieta Plaza. At left, the new store employees (many of them familiar faces) and Raley's representatives gathered on the sidewalk to thank the shoppers lined up at the entrance.

Friday evening, after a pre-opening gathering for employees at the new Raley’s in Murieta Plaza, store leader Steve Thomas joked that, hey, maybe there will be people waiting at the door when the store opens in the morning. He thought he was kidding. Read more » about Yes, Rancho Murieta, there is a supermarket
