RMA OKs Greenfield exit, discusses field fees

The Rancho Murieta Association board voted unanimously this week to allow Greenfield Communications, supplier of the community’s TV, internet and phone services, to transfer its lease of the RMA cable system to Varcomm Holdings, a telecommunications company based in tiny Ducor, Tulare County. A bumper crop of Rancho Murieta Association Holiday Lights contest winners received lawn signs designating their decorated homes as the best and the brightest at Tuesday’s RMA meeting. Santa Claus got the presentation off to a merry start with a few ho-ho-hos, and then handed out candy canes and congratulations as Director Stephanie Bianchi announced winners and presented signs while the audience applauded its approval. Holiday lights, new directors at RMA, CSD

The Rancho Murieta Association and Community Services District boards will prepare for the year ahead at their meetings this week. On Tuesday, the RMA board will select officers and committee chairs at a 5 p.m. organizational meeting, and begin its regularly scheduled 6:30 p.m. meeting by announcing the winners of the annual Holiday Lights contest. CSD acts on staff, 1-mph speeding violations

The Community Services District board, the majority of which will be replaced next month, voted unanimously last week to grant the general manager a potential 4 percent salary increase and to hire a director of administration as second in command on financial and other matters. Toasted marshmallows, cookies, cocoa, candy canes and Santa! Friday was a big night at Stonehouse Park. Thanks to the Rancho Murieta Association Maintenance Department, event organizers were prepared for whatever Mother Nature had in store. Twin fire pits kept the chill away and a huge tent sheltered Santa and Mrs. Claus as they visited with children and the Murieta Dance Company performed a trio of numbers from its upcoming holiday show. Santa alighted from a fire truck to start the holiday season by lighting the decorations. The rain relented for this annual Optimist Club event, which seems only fitting. A tree sprouts on the RMA lawn

Rancho Murieta Association workers Vince Carrillo, left, and Mark Kitchener were midway through assembling a keynote holiday decoration on the RMA Building's lawn Monday afternoon. The job will be completed Tuesday, they said, and the Christmas tree will be lighted when the community's other holiday lights go on, later this week. (Click for larger image.)
