Parade

We didn’t see any forbidden water battles on the parade route, but we did see lots of people having a good time throughout Rancho Murieta’s July 4 celebration. From the Fun Run in the early morning to the fireworks 14 hours later (was that the best finale ever?), it was a July 4 many will remember fondly. We have the whole day covered – and nearly 300 photos too. Read more » Read more » about This July 4 is a day deserving of applause

After decade-long wait, park is happening

Greens Park start

After a decade of delay, the Greens Park project got its official kickoff Monday morning just off Jigger Court on the South. Representatives of the Rancho Murieta Association and Community Services District were on hand. (Representatives of the North developers were invited too.) Cutting the ribbon are, from left, Mark Pecotich, the CSD board president, and Bob Lucas, the RMA board president. In the background, from left, are Darlene Thiel, CSD general manager; Morrison Graf, CSD director; Larry Shelton, RMA director; Alex Bauer, RMA director; Danise Hetland, RMA assistant general manager, and Greg Vorster, RMA general manager. Even before the ribbon was cut, a work crew was running equipment over the three-acre park site, surrounded by 18 acres of wetlands that won't be touched. The park will have play equipment and Frisbee golf, and completion is expected this summer. (Click photo for larger image) Read more » about After decade-long wait, park is happening

Pickleball courts dedicated at Stonehouse

Pickleball dedication

The Rancho Murieta Association dedicated the new pickleball courts at Stonehouse Park Monday morning. RMA President Bob Lucas wielded the scissors as he and Maintenance Manager Rod Hart spoke briefly about the genesis of the courts, which Hart said have already brought more foot traffic than the paved area had seen in many years. After the ribbon cutting, the pickleball players took to the courts, joined briefly by Lucas, a tennis player who learned that he has a bit to learn about pickleball. Click photo for larger image.
