RMA says cable problem has been fixed

[Updated April 10] The Rancho Murieta Association reported Wednesday that a cable TV problem affecting eight channels has been fixed, though neighbors disagreed in posts here at midweek. By week's end, the problems seemed resolved.  RMA General Manager David Stiffler said Tuesday that there were problems with channels 4, 18, 31, 32, 33, 40, HBO and Cinemax because of a faulty wire in one of the satellite dishes that bring in programming. Fire official criticizes RMA's proposed fees for public-safety radio tower

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District's chief wrote an angry letter to the Rancho Murieta Association Thursday, saying the RMA is seeking "inappropriate and outrageous" fees to place a public-safety radio antenna tower on the RMA's tower property on Stonehouse Road. Mood swing: Cable conversations go from improved service to shutdown

[Edited April 4] In less than a month, the Rancho Murieta Association Communications Committee has gone from anticipating the relaunch of an improved cable system to contemplating shutting the system down at year's end if a proposed bylaws amendment passes. Committee members pushed back Wednesday, saying the community needs to hear the rest of the story -- that shutting down cable also means shutting down the RMA's broadband Internet service, which is used by almost a quarter of the community. Neighbor questions RMA about driveway parking

For a community where vehicles are meant to be garaged, Rancho Murieta has a lot of cars sitting in driveways. That's Carl Gaither's observation after a recent late-night drive around the North and South. He counted over 250 vehicles "single-parked and double-parked and sometimes triple-parked in the driveway and 11 cars parked on the street." RMA begins election to reduce quorum requirement

Rancho Murieta Association members can expect a ballot in their mailboxes within the next few days for a proposed bylaw amendment, the RMA announced Thursday.

If passed, the amendment would lower the quorum requirement for the election of RMA directors from 40 percent to 33 1/3 percent. The reduction in the quorum requirement applies only to the election of directors.

The proposed amendment requires a 50 percent vote of the membership to pass.

The due date for the ballots to be returned to the RMA is April 10.
