Court hears suit over RMA's exclusive use policy

A disagreement over the Rancho Murieta Association's handling of exclusive-use applications -- homeowners who lease common land adjoining their own property -- was the subject of a 20-minute hearing Tuesday in Sacramento Small Claims Court.

[Updated Jan. 21] The president of the Rancho Murieta Association appeared at the Community Services District board meeting Wednesday night to protest remarks made by a CSD director the night before at the RMA meeting, but he ended up agreeing that the RMA owes the parks fund money. CSD Director Dick Taylor provided this text of his comments following Tuesday's RMA meeting:

My name is Dick Taylor and I am a director at the CSD. I come before you representing the CSD Board of Directors and as its representative member on the Rancho Murieta Parks Committee.

It is the wish of the CSD Board to encourage your discussion of a matter that has been on the table for months and months. RMA survey on cable operation is in the mail

Check your mailbox: The Rancho Murieta Association has sent members a mailing for an advisory vote on making basic cable TV service voluntary.  It also includes reasons why the costs have to remain part of members' monthly dues.

The mailing is the result of a petition drive conducted last fall by critics of the RMA cable operation. The petition requested the board "to take whatever measures necessary" to make basic cable TV service voluntary, and it called for an advisory vote of the membership on the issue. Moratorium on new exclusive uses is extended by RMA
