RMA swears in directors

Rancho Murieta Association Director Anne Denker thanked Maintenance Department Manager Rod Hart after the RMA annual meeting and election Thursday night. Hart made carved wood medallions to honor her and President Jack Cooper for their service as board members. Cooper was reelected to the board with 814 votes, and Dick Cox received 686 in the election. Since the two ran unopposed, the evening's only suspense centered on making the quorum requirement of 928 votes for the election -- and who would win the door prizes. CSD and RMA board meetings this week

The Community Services District and Rancho Murieta Association boards of directors will hold monthly meetings this week. The RMA's session will be its annual meeting, including the election of two directors.

The Community Services District board of directors meets a week early this month because of the Thanksgiving holiday. The public session is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday at the CSD Building. The agenda and board packet are available here.

RMA holiday bus trip

The Rancho Murieta Association Recreation Committee is offering a one-day bus trip to San Francisco for holiday shopping and sightseeing Wednesday, Dec. 5. The bus will leave from the Gazebo parking lot at 7:30 a.m. and return at approximately 8:30 p.m. The trip is limited to RMA members and their guests, and costs $35 per person. Mixing bingo and boooooooo

The ghosts and witches came out Friday night, and they all headed over to the Rancho Murieta Association Building for a bingo party. Ghosts greeted bingo players at the entrance to the RMA, and inside everything was orange and black, with tombstones and spiders thrown in for good measure. RMA will hold Candidates Night 7 p.m. Thursday

The two candidates in the uncontested Rancho Murieta Association board election will address community issues at Candidates Night, scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the RMA Building. Dick Cox and incumbent Jack Cooper will offer their views on RMA cable services, security, the budget, exclusive use agreements, and other topics.

The candidates will address questions developed by the Nominating Committee as well as questions posed by the audience.

'Working With Graphics' computer class

The Rancho Murieta Association hosts "Working with Graphics – Using Microsoft Word," a three-session computer class taught by resident Lynn Baugher at the RMA Building, starting Oct. 22, from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

The second session is Oct. 25, from 2:30 to 5 p.m., and the third is Oct. 29 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. There is a $10 charge for the 75-page manual.

Expanded story: RMA preliminary 2008 budget comes under fire in workshop

[News brief published and corrected Oct. 10] The Rancho Murieta Association's preliminary 2008 budget took a battering at a budget workshop Wednesday night, with directors and members of the audience challenging aspects of the document as "blue sky."

At the start of the session, the proposed budget called for no dues increase. Three hours later, changes in the budget brought the preliminary bottom line to a dues increase of $5.25 a month, or 3.9 percent. It follows a 10 percent increase last year.
