Supervisor Sue Frost's look at Scott Road last week named two stretches where most accidents have occurred in recent years. Here's a look at those two areas.

It will take money to fix Scott Road, Supervisor Sue Frost wrote here last week, and money is something Sacramento County doesn’t have. She looked at traffic counts and, more importantly, accident reports. She found we’re averaging almost an accident a month on Scott Road, and most of the accidents have occurred along two stretches that are detailed in the accompanying video. Read more » Read more » about Two accident-prone stretches of Scott Road

Resource map

A yellowing, six-foot-long map was among the 40-year-old planning documents discovered last week in county files – documents that may push development back from the Cosumnes River in Rancho Murieta. Standing from left are development partner Tom deRegt, county facilitator Surinder Singh and Shelby Maples, the county project manager who found the documents. Click to see larger image.

The county wrapped up a series of Rancho Murieta development meetings last week by announcing the discovery of documents that support the Rancho Murieta Association’s claim that a “resource protection area” was drawn by the county in the 1970s to protect land along the Cosumnes River from development. Also at the meeting, the development group offered tentative revised plans that it says bring the planned Rancho North development down to 798 units – and within the limits of the Mutual Benefit Agreement.
