The blankets were in place and the sound and lights crew was at work Saturday afternoon at Lake Clementia Amphitheater, getting ready for the Pablo Cruise concert that begins tonight at 8:30.  The show will open Entertainment, Theatre & Culture's summer season.  Tickets at the door are $25 for ETC members and $35 for non-members.  You can become a member at the door.  There's more information about ETC here. Pablo CruisePablo Cruise returns by popular demand to open the Entertainment, Theatre and Culture summer concert season at Lake Clementia Amphitheater June 6.

The original members of the band performed at ETC’s season-opener in 2004, delighting a crowd of more than 1,000 with their first performance as a group in 20 years. They rocked the amphitheater with their hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s, including “Love Will Find a Way” and "Whatcha Gonna Do (When She Says Goodbye),” and they’ve been playing together ever since. ETC announces five concerts in 2009 season

Lining up donations for the 2009 OKC Corral

OKC Corral -- an event that raises funds for kids, but is fun for adults -- returns to the Rancho Murieta Equine Complex April 25.  The event, which features dinner, dancing and gaming, is looking for sponsors and donations of auction items.

The long-running event, once known as Casino Corral, supports programs at Cosumnes River Elementary and middle and high schools as well as scouts, Fishing Day, teen nights, sports programs and a lot more.  The event is an adult evening, with a live band, prime-rib dinner, games, poker, dancing and auctions.

ETC sets dates for 2009 season

Entertainment, Theatre & Culture, the group that stages shows on the shores of Lake Clementia every summer, has set the dates for its 2009 season.

The season begins Sunday, May 3, with ETC's free kick-off party, which features wines and desserts.

Then come the concerts:

  • Saturday, June 6
  • Sunday, July 5
  • Saturday, July 25
  • August: to be announced
  • Saturday, September 5

ETC says it's researching and booking the acts now. It promises one of the shows will be a highly requested favorite.

The group also has a new president for 2009, Debbie Pishek, and vice president, Mike Mann.

RMA bingo, with an autumn theme

The Rancho Murieta Association Building was the scene Friday night as a capacity crowd turned out for the RMA Recreation Committee's "It's Fall!" bingo event. The committee decked out the room in harvest colors, and the autumnal theme extended to the refreshments, which included plates of cookies decorated like pumpkins. RMA bingo coming Oct. 10

The Rancho Murieta Association Recreation Committee presents the "It's Fall!" bingo event 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the RMA Building. Adult beverages will be served, and RMA members and their guests must be 21 to attend.

An Indian summer evening by the lake

The fifth annual Kiwanis Blues and Brews event Saturday at Lake Clementia Amphitheater attracted what looked like its biggest crowd yet as hundreds enjoyed a celebration for the senses beside the lake on a perfect Indian summer evening. Live bands played blues and rock, artists and artisans displayed their wares under graceful tents and the convivial crowd enjoyed a unique selection of wines, beers and foods. Blues and Brews is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, Plaza Foods and the Rancho Murieta Association.

Waiting for the stars to come out

The first celebrants gathered at sundown Friday to be part of Dancing Under the Stars, a fundraiser event at Lake Clementia Amphitheater to help build a skatepark. “Celebrate with Peter Rivera” lived up to its name Saturday night as Entertainment, Theatre and Culture for Rancho Murieta concluded another concert season at Lake Clementia Amphitheater. Rivera is the former lead singer and drummer for Rare Earth, a group whose heyday was in the late 1960s and early '70s. Despite a power failure that interrupted the show for nearly an hour, Rivera and his band gave new life to rock, Motown and funk classics, from “It’s Your Thing” to a bluesy version of “Tobacco Road.” Read more » about A show so hot, the lights went out
